Our Lady & St. Josephs won their second consecutive Gordon Swann Cup thanks to a hat-trick from George Phillis. Carrfield were level at 2-2 with 8 minutes left.
Phillis opened the scoring for the Wath school after 5 minutes, before Harris Vickers equalised with a beauty from wide right after good play from Alfie Gollick midway through the half.
Phillis continued to create chances from his holding midfield position before a Thomas Hill’s strike was headed wide by Carrfield’s Toby Cooke on the stroke of half-time.
Another quick goal in the second half from Phillis increased OL&SJ’s lead with a low shot from distance, only for Carrfield’s Sid Swift to level the match from the penalty spot after Ella Mann had been fouled.
Jenson Patton scrambled a goal 8 minutes from time to make it 3-2. Soon after an unfortunate own goal extended the league after a brave save from the Carrfield keeper.
In the last minute, Patton scored a wonderful overhead kick that went in off the post and then Phillis completed his hat-trick with a penalty.
