Brampton Ellis 2 Jump 0

Final played on Friday 9th May. Goals from BEEVERS and LAWRENCE. Match report from SYT 17/5/58.
Above photo thanks to Frank Beevers. He said the final was played at the back of the Flying Dutchman at Hemingfield.
The above photo, though, was taken with Brampton Ellis school behind. In the background are the houses of Grove Road.
He remembers that John “Nuffy” Taylor and Trevor Lawrence were the best players. David Walters went on to keep wicket for Yorkshire. John Whike went to work in his family’s shop.

Peter Brookes: I played for the ‘National School’ (Mexborough St. John’s), probably in the 1957/58 season. We were coached by the hugely charismatic teacher, Fred Marklew. Mr Marklew had a Triumph ‘Mayflower’ and used to get the whole of the team into the car! We may not have played them in the Totty Cup but my main memory is getting hammered by Swinton Bridge captained by the great Frank Barlow with Geoff Salmons playing as well. It’s wonderful to still see Frank after all these years.

Sadly, this is one of 5 post war photos still missing. It was 1974. We have Adwick Road’s photo! https://tottycup.wordpress.com/1970s/1974-2/ where there are some other peoples’ memories.
