Totty Cup Final Report

Carrfield took the honours in a high quality Totty Cup final against their Astrea neighbours Goooseacre.

The Thurnscoe school was quickest out of the blocks when Ruben Tonge smashed high into the net from close range after latching onto an Ellis Newcombe’s flick from Tommy Sambrook’s cross.

A third of the match passed before Carrfield levelled when Daley Stones fed Harris Vickers who moved the ball onto his right foot and unleashed a shot into the top corner.

Gooseacre’s Daniel Addo’s shot from distance had Eddie Blessed back pedaling.

Two minutes before the break Carrfield took the lead when Toby Kinsella found Zani Powell who out-muscled two defenders before a sliding to toe the ball past Zac Jones.

After the break, Kinsella again fed Powell whose powerful shot was well parried by Jones but still dropped in.

Gooseacre strove to reduce the deficit, with Sambrook and Addo involved in everything. They should take comfort in that there has been no better Gooseacre team since the turn of the century.

For Carrfield, this is their ninth Totty Cup triumph, which is more than any other school.
