NAME
(1.1) The name of the association is Don & Dearne School Sports Association (hereinafter DDSSA)


OBJECTS & POWERS
(2.1) Preserve the Totty Cup competition and the Don & Dearne Girls Cup.

(2.2) Endeavour to preserve our other competitions (listed in order of longevity) – Barlow-Salmons, Gordon Swann Cup, Brian Hyde Cup.

(2.3) The DDSSA organises inter-school football matches in the following areas: Wath, Swinton, Rawmarsh, Mexborough & Dearne.

(2.4) Raise funding to cover the costs of trophy engraving, medals, referees and other expenses.

(2.5) All junior schools in the areas mentioned will be invited to compete.

(2.6) Encourage secondary schools to reinstate historic DDSSA competitions – eg. the West Shield

(2.7) Develop a membership structure to support the competitions. Members will receive at invite to the final and/or programme through the post at cost price.

(2.8) Raise the profile of the DDSSA through publicity of both historical and current competitions.


MEMBERSHIP

(3.1) Membership of the DDSSA shall be open to all who are interested in furthering the work of the DDSSA and have registered.

(3.2) Members shall not be entitled to vote

(3.3) The committee shall have the right to approve or reject applications for membership.


OFFICERS

(4.1) At the Annual General Meeting the DDSSA shall elect a Chair, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Girls Football lead – and such other Officers as the DDSSA from time to time decide.


COMMITTEE

(5.1) The policy and general management of the affairs of the DDSSA shall be directed by a committee that shall meet not less than once a year.

(5.2) The committee shall consist of (i) the Officers and (ii) others who may be co-opted at the AGM

(5.3) The elected members of the Committee shall be elected at the AGM

(5.4) Any casual vacancy in the Committee may be filled up by the Committee and any person appointed to fill such a casual vacancy shall hold office unttil the conclusion of trhe next AGM and shall be eligible for election at that meeting.


MEETINGS OF THE ASSOCIATION

(6.1) The AGM shall be held not later than the end of February in each year at a format that the Committee shall determine. At least 7 days notice will be given.

(6.2) At the AGM the biusiness shall include the election of Officers, the consideration of an annual report of the work done the committee and the audited accounts.

(6.3) A Resolution to be discussed and voted upon at the AGM must be notified to the Secretary for it to be included in the 7 days notice of the Meeting


RULES OF PROCEDURE AT ALL MEETINGS

(7.1) Minutes shall be kept by the Secretary

(7.2) All questions arising at any meeting shall be decided by a simple majority of those present and entitled to vote. In the case of an equality of votes, the Chair of the meeting shall have the second or casting vote.

(7.3) The Quorom at the meeting of DDSSA shall be made of no less than three members.


FINANCE

(8.1) All monies raised by, or on behalf of, the DDSSA shall be applied to further the objects of the DDSSA and for no other purpose.

(8.2) The Treasurer shall keep proper accounts of the DDSSA

(8.3) The accounts shall be examined at least once a year by an independent examiner.


AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION

(9.1) Any amendment to the Constitution shall receive the assent of not less than a simple majority of the full membership of DDSSA for the time being, whether individual or representative present, and voting at a meeting specially called for the purpose provided that notice of any such alteration shall have been received by the Secretary in writing not less than 14 clear days before the meeting at which the amendment is to be proposed.

(9.2) At least 7 clear days’ notice in writing of such a meeting, setting out the terms of the amendment, shall be sent by the Secretary to each Officer of DDSSA provided that no amendment shall be made which would have the effect of dissolving DDSSA.


DISSOLUTION
(10.1) If the Committee, by a simple majority, decides at any time that it is necessary or advisable to dissolve DDSAA it shall call a meeting of DDSAA members who have the right to vote. Not less than 14 days’ notice, stating the terms of the Resolution be proposed shall be given. Any remaining funds in the bank account shall be transferred the schools of the Officers of the DDSSA.
