Wath OLSJ 2 0 Carrfield
After fifty years of trying Our Lady & St. Josephs has won its first Don & Dearne football trophy in a tight final against Carrfield at Mexborough Rangers JFC.

A quick start from the Wath School saw Harry Hudson score in the first minute after a through ball from captain Anashe Wesseh.
Carrfield grew into the game with penetrating runs from Stanley P and Alfie G before Rowan D‘s shot hit the crossbar.
Throughout the second half Carrfield continued to search for an equaliser – they were awarded a string of free-kicks within shooting range, but failed to test Axel Davison.
St. Joseph’s Thomas Hill was sweeping up all Carrfield’s forays and impressed further with a run the length of the pitch which ended with a teasing cross.
Another breakaway attack saw Wesseh‘s shot from close range bravely saved by Carrfield’s Sid S.
The Dearne school’s captain Seth M was calmly holding the fort at the back as Mr. Francis pushed more players forward.
It was a breakaway goal in the final minute by Harry Hudson that sealed the Gordon Swann Cup for OLSJ. It was St. Joseph’s 4th ever Don & Dearne final and they went one better than in the 1978, 1990 & 1994 finals.
